Friday Night Live!
Friday Night Live (FNL) is run by the Carlisle Youth Commission. Though it is held at the school, FNL is not sponsored by the Carlisle Public Schools. FNL is designed to provide all Carlisle middle school-aged residents with a safe, entertaining place to socialize with their peers. It is usually held on the first Friday of each month in the Corey Gym and Exercise Room at the Carlisle Public School from 7:00 – 9:30 PM, unless preempted by scheduling conflicts or snow. Dates of the event are always announced in the Carlisle Mosquito and The Buzz.
Any child attending an FNL must have a completed authorization signed by both the child and a parent or legal guardian. No child will be admitted without these signed and completed forms. The authorization form also places parents on the year's chaperone list. Please note that all parents of middle school children are obligated to chaperone one FNL during the school year. Parents can sign up to chaperone FNL at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090D45A4A622A64-201920
At the end of the night, you must pick your child up at 9:30 PM sharp as all children are dismissed to the parking lot. The Carlisle Youth Commission is not responsible for the participants’ safety once they have left the building. If a child needs to leave before 9:30 PM, a parent must come inside to sign him/her out.
Music for dancing is provided by DJ's, along with basketball, ping pong, checkers/chess and occasional contests. Pizza, seltzer and snacks are available for $1.00 and $.50, respectively. A $8.00 per child contribution at the door allows the program to be self-supporting.
FNL is organized by the Town of Carlisle’s Youth Commission and Program Coordinator, Mike Dreesen. Mr. Dreesen has experience working with children as a Special Education Tutor in a neighboring town. He is responsible for informing and organizing chaperones at each FNL. Each chaperone is assigned to an area and given specific guidelines to assure everyone's safety and enjoyment.
As noted above, FNL is run by the Youth Commission and is not sponsored by the Carlisle Public Schools. Nevertheless, the behavior expected of the children at FNL is the same as that outlined in the Carlisle Public School Handbook and the enclosed FNL Guidelines. All participants should demonstrate respect for the adult chaperones, each other, and the property. In light of past incidents, the Commission has established the following policy: The first reprimand for inappropriate behavior will bring suspension from the next FNL with the child's parent serving as chaperone upon his/her return; a second reprimand will bring suspension from FNL for the remainder of the school year. Parents should review these guidelines with their child.
We are looking forward to the first FNL of the 2019-20 school year. It's a great chance for our children to hang out with their friends in a safe environment. We need the support and participation of every family to run successful events throughout the year. If you have any questions or comments, please contact a member of the Youth Commission.
